SHIMLA----Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today while addressing election rallies in Theog and Jubbal Kotkhai in Shimla Parliamentary area in Support of Party Candidate Mohal Lal Brakata ,said that the BJP was projecting a larger-than-life image of Mr Modi as if he were an 'incarnation of God'. He also accused the BJP of 'forgetting' former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee, once termed by the party as 'Vikash Purush'.Virbhadra Singh hit out at BJP and Mr Modi, alleging that they have sold out to the corporate and were using their black money in election campaigning.
'The BJP is spending money like water. They are fighting the elections with black money from the corporate,' he said, adding, 'If they come to power, these corporate houses will influence the economic policies of the country for their own benefits.'
Mr Singh said the Congress also receives donations and spends money for elections, but claimed that it was a meager amount compared to the amount spent by the BJP.
Targeting his Gujarat counterpart, Mr Singh said the BJP has become a 'one-man show' with Mr Modi, who was given a larger-than-life image.
'The BJP doesn't talk of Vajpayeeji anymore. Once they called him 'Vikash Purush' and now they have forgotten him when he is very much alive,' he added.
He pointed that Mr Vajpayee had never associated himself with the Babri Masjid demolition and had advised Mr Modi to resign after the Godhra riots in keeping with the 'raj dharma'. 'Modi is projected as if he is some incarnation of God. The 'NaMo' slogan almost catapults him to the status of Mahadev,' the Himachal CM said.
He affirmed that the BJP's lotus (the party's electoral symbol) will not bloom inHimachal as the state has no place for the 'divisive politics' of the party. 'I have never seen such polarization, of rich from poor, of industrialists from farmers, on religious grounds. This strategy of the BJP to divide the people will not work,' Mr Singh added.
