Shimla--Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign 2011 will be organised in Himachal Pradesh on 23rd January and 27th February, 2011 except Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts. This was informed in a high level meeting here yesterday organized to make arrangements which was presided over by Smt. Rajwant Sandhu, Chief Secretary.
Smt. Sandhu emphasised the need for identification of clusters for immunisation and ensure that no child is left out including the migrants. She said that mass awareness campaign should be intensified by involving NSS, NCC, Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandals and students in colleges and schools besides all the departments. She said that this campaign should be taken as social responsibility by one and all. She said that survey should be conducted especially in industrial areas to identify the children in the age group of 0-5 years who should be immunised during the campaign.
Chief Secretary directed all the depart ments to give cooperation to the health department for making this campaign a success.
Shri P.C. Dhiman, Principal Secretary, Health informed in the meeting that 5855 Pulse Polio Immunisation booths would be set up during the campaign besides 240 Mobile Teams, 114 Transit Teams. He said that more than 30,000 persons would be involved in this campaign in the State in both these dates.
Dr. G.P. Diwedi, Surveillance Medical Officer Polio gave detail of the programme implementation in the past and said that no polio case has been reported in the State in 2010.
Principal Secretaries from various departments, Shri Vinod Pathak, Director, Health Services and other senior officers attended the meeting among others.
