Minister warns action against Pradhan's failing to utilise funds of 14th FC
              Vijyender Sharma SHIMLA-----Rural  Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar has expressed concern  that Gram Panchayats are failing to spend the funds provided under 14th Finance  Commission in a stipulated time period.
  
              He said that Rs. 1420 crores  have been released under the 14th Finance Commission to the Gram Panchayats of  the state since year 2015-16, but they have been able to spent only Rs. 800  crores out of it, which is a matter of concern. 
  
              The Minister has urged the  Gram Panchayats for taking effective steps for utilising the unspent funds  otherwise stern action would be initiated as per the rules against the  Panchayat Pradhan's failing to spend the allotted funds. Moreover, they will  have to return the unspent amount to the Panchayati Raj department. 
  
              Virender Kanwar said that  funds are directly being transferred to all the 3226 Panchayats of the state,  which they can utililse for various developmental works especially cleanliness,  drinking water, street lighting, construction and repair of roads, public  toilets, installing hand pumps and constructing other public properties. 
  
              He also directed all the Block  Development Officers for ensuring regular review of the developmental works  being carried out under 14th Finance Commission during the monthly meetings of  the Gram Panchayats and sending a report regarding this to the Directorate of  Panchayati Raj.
