Marathon to be organised on International Women Day

SHIMLA----The marathon would be organised for men and women under Beti Bachao, Beti Padho scheme in Shimla on the occasion of International Women Day on 8 March 2019.
A Spokesperson of the Women and Child Development Department disclosed here today that the main theme of the marathon is to empower the girl child by creating awareness in the society. The marathon would be organised for below twenty years and above twenty years categories and the interested persons can register themselves from 5-7 March, 2019 with the office of District Sports Officer, Youth Services and Sports department, Shimla.
He said that the marathon would start from the Ridge to Summer Hill Chowk and back to the Ridge. The first five winners would be given cash prizes.
The Spokesperson said that the products of women self-help groups of the far-flung areas would be displayed in Padamdev complex Ridge Shimla on this occasion besides organising various sports, cultural and other activities for the girls.
