HIMUDA dilly-dallying on withdrawing maintenance charges

Vijyender Sharma
SHIMLA----Notwithstanding the fact that Sudhir Sharma  state Housing, Town and
Country Planning Minister has gone on record and even categorically
assured residents
of HIMUDA residential colonies that orders pertaining to three times
hike in maintenance charges from Rs. 10 to Rs. 30 per metre would be
withdrawn, HIMUDA (Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development
Authority)  has not so far not given any instruction to  its
divisional and sub-divisional offices including  Dharamsala and Una
regarding withdrawal of charges.

The dilly-dallying on part of HIMUA to issue orders for withdrawal of
maintenance charges has led to great deal of confusion among residents
of HIMUDA residential colonies.  The residents feel aggrieved that
HIMUDA takes its decisions in arbitrary manner disregarding standard
rules and norms.

They said increase of three times made in maintenance charges by
HIMUDA is tantamount to looting people of residential colonies. They
said that irrational increase

smacks of absolute arbitrariness  adding it was irrational  owing to
the fact that other housing authorities like GMADA, PUDA, HUDA and DDA
does not charges anything for providing and maintaining basic
amenities.

The residents  of HIMUDA residential colonies aver that Chief Minister
intervene in the matter and ensure that unjustified increase made in
the maintenance charges made by HIMUDA be withdrawn at the earliest.
They also demanded that maintenance of HIMUDA residential colonies
should be handed over to local bodies to save them from harassment
from HIMUDA.
