CM directs to complete college buildings work in time frame

SHIMLA-- While reviewing the under-construction work of all the 21 colleges announced during the regime of the present government, Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh directed to complete the building works of all the Government Colleges in a time bound manner and fixed the targets of completion.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of construction of college buildings for which a provision of rupees five crore each had already been made along-with the announcements.
The Chief Minister directed that if there were any cases of forest clearance they may be expedited. The Chief Minister fixed the targets for completion of Arts Block of RKMV college, Shimla by October 2016, long pending work on the Nerwa College building in Chopal by March 2016. The Chief Minister had himself visited to inspect the Nerwa college building. He also directed to complete the other college buildings viz: building of Government College Seraj at Lamba Thach by January 2016, building of GC Jhanduta, in Bilaspur district by January, 2015, the remaining work of construction of Arts/Administrative block/ Auditorium and Library hall of GC Kullu by January 2016, completion of GC Naura in Kangra by next month i.e. October 2015 and GC, Teacher Education and Multipurpose hall at Dharamsala by December, 2016.
He also directed that the science block of GC, Dharamsala which is a prestigious college of the State be designed matching the ambience and should be completed within one and a half year positively.
The Chief Minister also directed to expedite the work of the construction of the State Library.
Reviewed work of TKH Road
Shri Virbhadra Singh also held meeting with the Additional Chief Secretary, Education and other senior officers of the PWD department and representatives of Chadha and Chadha Company and reviewed the progress of Theog-Kotkhai-Hatkoti (TKH) road project.
Expressing satisfaction with the commencement of laying of bitumen the Chief Minister directed to complete the work as soon as possible.
The contractors assured that additional machinery would be deployed to to ensure better progress of tarring and metalling works on the maximum identified stretch by 15th October. They assured that the work on the bridges will also commence soon.
It was informed in the meeting that the design for the Kharapathar- Pattidhank stretch will be reviewed for which PWD has invited consultants to examine the feasibility of change in design.
Rs 56 crore New OPD Block of IGMC
Additional Chief Secretary, Health Shri Vineet Chaudhary informed that the health department had accorded administrative approval amounting to Rs. 56.20 crore for construction of new OPD block of IGMC. He said that a sum of RSs. 7 crore has been provided as additionality by the planning department for 2015-16.
It was also informed that basement construction work of Rs 17 crore Mother-Child Hospital within the campus of Kamla Nehru hospital Shimla was almost complete and the Mission Director National Rural Health Mission has released a sum of rupees five crore to PWD as an advance for construction of civil works.
He said that a sum of Rs. 7.37 crore had been deposited with PWD for completing brick work of Deen Dayal Upadhaya (DDU) hospital building near Bus stand and almost 85 percent work was completed. During the year 2015-16 a capital budgetary provision of Rs.59 crore has been allocated to the health department.
Chief Minister was informed that construction work of DDU hospital building was almost 65 percent complete.
He also reviewed the progress work of Irrigation and Public Health Department and directed to complete the major IPH schemes all over the State expeditiously. He said that the work of major IPH scheme in Shimla rural be completed soon.
