CM lays foundation stone of Car Parking at Vikasnagar

SHIMLA---- Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh today performed foundation stone laying ceremony of Car Parking and Commercial Complex at Vikas Nagar to be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 20 crore.
Municipal Corporation Shimla will be the commissioning authority and Rudra Infrastructure Construction Ltd. will be the promoter of this mega project on Built Operate Transfer (BOT) basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Virbhadra Singh said that the ten storeyed multi complex which will include seven parking floors and three floors for commercial purpose with all basic amenities, fire escape, stair case and barrier free movement etc. It would have facility to park about 175 light vehicles, he added.
State Government was given added priority for providing parking facilities to the people of the town so that traffic congestion could be neutralized, adding that the Government had already provided car parking facility at Sanjauli and similar big parking slot were being developed at Tutikandi (ISBT) and near lift. He said that alternative transportation facilities like rope ways were also being developed in the town to facilitate visitors.
The Chief Minister announced to open new Dispensary and developing of play ground at Vikasnagar. He said that the State Government was committed to provide all possible help to Municipal Corporation Shimla for providing basic amenities to the citizens. "Shimla town was not only known for its heritage but also a symbol of green environment and cleanliness", he said. Shri Virbhadra Singh also urged the people to maintain cleanness so as to upkeep the glory of the town.
Earlier, Shri Surinder Chauhan, the local Councilor welcomed the Chief Minister and others dignitaries and apprised the Chief Minister about the local issues and demanded a play field and dispensary for the area.
Managing Director Rudra Infrastructure Ltd. Shri NishiKant Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister and said that efforts would be made to construct the project in a stipulated time period so that people would get the benefit of the same.
President SDA residential welfare society Shri Arvind Batish, also supported the demands of the Councilor.
Urban Development Minister Shri Sudhir Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Nand Lal, MLA Shri Anirudh Singh, Mayor MC Shimla Shri Sanjay Chauhan, Vice-Chairman HPTDC Shri Harish Janartha, Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Manisha Nanda, DC Shimla Shri Dinesh Malhotra, Commissioner MC Shimla Shri Pankaj Rai, Councilors and other prominent persons of the town were also present on the occasion.
