Mahender Singh reviews progress on various IPH projects

SHIMLA-----Irrigation and Public Health Minister Mahender Singh Thakur presided over the meeting of senior officers of the I&PH department here to review the progress on the ongoing projects of the department.

            Mahender Singh Thakur said that doubling the farmer's income by 2022 is a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which would not only help in enhancing the sustainability of water resources through water consternation interventions, but also doubling the farmer's income.

            He reviewed the progress on Rs. 70 crore World Bank aided hydrology project being implemented in the state. He also reviewed ongoing projects including Shah Naher, Sidhata, Finna Singh, Swan River, Chhonch Khud.

            He said that these projects would focus on reducing the impacts of climate change on water resources, ensure sustainable irrigation with enhanced adaptive capacity of about one million small and marginal farmers of the State.

            The Minister directed the officials to expedite the work on all the projects on priority basis.

            Additional Chief Secretary, Horticulture R.D. Dhiman, Secretary IPH Devesh Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief IPH Vikrant Suman, Director Horticulture Dr. M.L Dhiman other senior officers state were present in the meeting.
