HP High Court asked officials to file response within two weeks in the matter pertaining to the rising pollution the industrial area at Baddi

High Court of H.P. today directed the Principal Secretary (Environment, Science and Technology), to file response within two weeks in the matter pertaining to the rising pollution the industrial area at Baddi.  The court also made it clear that in order to avoid conflicting views henceforth all the respondents and concerned authorities shall at first place/submit their reports to the    Principal Secretary (Environment, Science and Technology) who after examining the same ,  shall file consolidated report in the Court. The court further directed that in order to find appropriate solution    Principal Secretary (Environment, Science and Technology) is at liberty to convene the meeting of the Department concerned

           Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders on a petition taken up suo moto by the Court as Public Interest Litigation on a news item published in English daily " The Tribune"  on dated July 1st  under headline "Pollution rises in Baddi as effluent plant under used" the news item  suggested that less then 50% industrial units of Baddi Industrial area send untreated effluents to the CETP (Common Effluent Treatment Plant). It was further reported that the plant is treating 11 million liters waste per day as against the proposed 25 million liters daily.

The matter will be now listed before the court on 13th April 2017 for further hearing.
