Governor directs CSKHPKV authorities to improve cow farm

Dharmshala, 29 April-Governor Acharya Devvrat showed his displeasure over the mis-management and deteriorated conditions of the cow farm under Dr. G C Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at CSKHPKV, Palampur in Kangra district. He took a serious note over the weakness of the cattle and was surprised to see that the domestic hilly cow breed was missing. The Governor today made a surprise visit to the cattle farm. 

The Governor directed the top authorities to look into the matter and improve the condition of the farm. He also directed to organize field visit of the students working there to big farms outside the State so that they could compare the working system.

He also visited Agriculture Technology Information Center and appreciated the products exhibited there. He interacted with the scientists and directed them to build up required confidence among farmers and to strengthen linkage between the institute and farmers of the State. He asked the scientists to provide diagnostic and advisory services such as soil testing, plant health clinic and disease identification and veterinary services etc. He also directed to sell and distribute improved products which have emerged as a result of research being done at the institute like seeds, plants, livestock, breeds and processed products etc. He advised to overcome technology dissemination loss and to provide direct access to farmers to improved expertise.

The Governor directed to strengthen the farm advisory services through multi-disciplinary approach to problem serving and also offer single window delivery system for agricultural information as well as products and technologies developed by the institute in order to develop quality service to clientele and also to provide all information to the farmers under one roof.

Dr. K. K. Katoch Vice Chancellor, CSK Agriculture University, Palampur and Head of the Departments accompanied the Governor during the visit.
