Electronic media should maintain its credibility

SHIMLA-------Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh said that electronic media should maintain its credibility besides giving adequate space for highlighting the issues of general public. He said that free and fair media is real strength of any nation. He said that press is said to be fourth pillar of the democracy and it should uphold its dignity in real sense.

Shri Virbhadra Singh was speaking at a launching ceremony of ETV Haryana, Himachal at Peterhoff here yesterday evening. He said that ETV group is a big house of the country and with the beginning of 24 hours news channel the people of the State would be benefited. He said that ETV has maintained its credibility over 15 years when it came into being. He said that this channel would help in disseminating the various developmental programmes amongst the masses upto rural level.

Chief Minister said that media should work with truth, honesty, courage and impartiality. He said that ETV has earned a big name in maintaining the highest standards of journalism.

He hoped that ETV would maintain high standards of journalism. He congratulated the Management of the ETV Group for launching special 24 hours News channel in Himachal Pradesh.

Shri Jagdish Chander, Head of ETV Channel welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him that ETV group was running about 35 channels covering various regions of the country. He said that it has been endeavour of the ETV Group to give priority for telecasting the issues related to the common man which was the sole motto of the channel. He said that ETV would act as a bridge between Government and the people.  He thanked the Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh for sparing his valuable time for inauguration ceremony of ETV in Himachal Pradesh. 

Shri K.S. Tomar, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and Dr. Shashi Bhushan, Editor, ETV Himachal also spoke on the occasion.

Smt. Vidya Stokes, IPH Minister, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Thakur, President, HPCC, media persons and other dignitaries were  also present on the occasion.
