UNA, APRIL 17 : BJP candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency Anurag Thakur today lashed out at the ruling Congress party in the state for patronising the mining mafia in Himachal Pradesh bordering Punjab.

Addressing public meetings in more than a dozen villages during his election campaign in Haroli assembly segment of the district, he said even chief minister Virbhadra Singh had admitted to the illegal mining activity getting political patronage in the state. But the state government had miserably failed to curb the menace since powerful elements within the state government were hand in glove with the culprits.

Mr Thakur said it was an open secret that stone crusher owners of Una were carrying out illegal mining and supplying material to Punjab areas where stone and gravel fetched very high prices right under the nose of the enforcement agencies in the state. Most of these crushers were operating without getting the mandatory clearance from the state-level Environment Impact Assessment Committee, he added.

The national president of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morch said under Virbhadra Singh development had come to a virtual standstill in the state and corruption was the order of the day. The chief minister himself was embroiled in corruption cases but the CBI was dragging its feet in these cases, he said, cautioning the chief minister that within a month of Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister, as looked certain, the CBI probe would be expedited and culprits brought to justice.

He appealed to the people to vote BJP to power with a thumping majority so that Narendra Modi could replicate the Gujrat model of development in the entire country. “Narendra Modi ko Pradhan Mantri Banao, aur Desh ko khushal Banao”, Anurag Thakur said.

Today Anurag Thakur  addressed public meetings in Nagnoli, Ispur, Samnol, Karmpur, Nangal Khurd, Barh Kalan, Suigha, Godhpur Jaichand, Godhpur Buhla, Dulehar, Polian, Billana, Povobal, Kuthar and Karera.
