Dehra(Kangra), Feb 09, 2011, The three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign(PIC) has began here in Kangra district today.
Organised by the Press Information Bureau, Shimla of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of Central Government, the campaign was inaugurated by the Rajya Sabha member Ms. Viplav Thakur. During the three day campaign the common people will be made aware of the centrally sponsored schemes.
In her speech, Viplav Thakur lauded the efforts of PIB and other media units of I & B ministry to create awareness among the common people in rural areas about the schemes and progammes of the central government so that the people from the very grass-root level could take benefits from them.
She said that the various programmes and schemes of the UPA government at the centre are aimed at uplifting all sections of society specially the poor ones and eradicating poverty.
Ms. Viplav Thakur added that Mahatama Gandhi Rashtriya Rojgar Guaranee Yojna(MNREGA) has proved very beneficial to provide employment avenues to the poor at the village level thereby checking the migration of rural people towards urban areas.
Referring to the free facility of 108 ambulances being run in the state under the Atal Behari Health Programme, she pointed out that this programme is also being run under the Health Mission of the central government.
The Rajya Sabha member observed that the Central Government is implementing Bharat Nirman programmes in all states of the country without any discrimination irrespective which party governs the state.
The MLA from pragpur, Yog Raj highlighted central sponsored programmes being implemented in the nook and corner of the state and complemented PIB for organizing this event.
Earlier, the official of the District Rural Development Authority, District Rural Development Agency, Sanjay Parmar addressing the gathering on complete sanitation programmes informed that 722 gram panchayats have been declared so far as free from open defecation panchayat in the Kangra district while 53 Gram Panchayats have been awarded with Nirmal Purskar.
The BDO Dehra, Sansar Chand stressed on the need for maintaining transparency in effective implementation of MNAREGA programme. Speaking on Right to Information Act,
Nodal RTI official of HIPA Gopal Krishan said that this is a simple and cheapest act to which the common people has access to us. Stating that efforts are being made to make this act time bound, he said that that under this act, the ruling of any issue is achieved within 30 days.
Earlier the RS MP visited the stalls set up by different departments of the central and state government depicting the progress of the central sponsored schemes being implemented in the state.
The people in general especially those coming from the rural areas are visiting in good number in these stalls and showing keen interest. The different media units of I & B Ministry including DAVP, DFP, Songand Drama Division, AIR and DDK lending support to the campaign in disseminating information to the people.
