Shimla--Himachal Pradesh Government has declared holiday on 3rd January, 2011 in view of Urban Local Bodies polls in the State.

All Government Offices/Boards/Corporations/Educational Institutions and other Industrial Establishments will remain closed under Industrial Disputes Act on 3rd January, 2011. It would also be a paid holiday to the daily waged employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

All the Deputy Commissioners are authorised to declare a public holiday on the said date within their jurisdiction.

Special casual leave and maximum facilities would be given to those employees who are working in different places in the State and have a right to vote in other places on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employee has actually cast his/her vote.
