HIMACHAL BEST BIG STATE IN INDIA

New Delhi--- Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged as overall best big state in the country .The state has also been adjudged best in education, investment and macro economy while the state is among the top states in the country in agriculture, governance, infrastructural development and consumer markets .The state has topped in housing sector in development prorammes. The state has registered annual growth of 8.1% which is equal to the industrialized state like Maharashtra. The state has been described at role model in overall development in entire India.
Vice President Hamid Ansari presented the prestigious award to Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in “State of States” Award function organized by India today group at Hotel Hyatt Regency at New Delhi today. While Speaking in panel discussions Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal criticized the Central Government for starting centrally sponsored schemes in the states for limited period with meager funding allocations. He said that majority of centrally sponsored schemes are transferred to the states after short period and states are asked to implement them with their own resources which constraints the limited revenue bases of the state. He said that government has focused its development approach to rural areas and has assured active participation of common citizens in implementation of rural oriented schemes.
He said that while the Himachali youths have made supreme sacrifices in various wars in armed forces and has won maximum gallantry awards after independence while on the other hand the intake of Himachalis youths in armed forces has been reduced due to R.M.P. formula adopted for recruitment in armed forces. He asked the Union Govt. to create more avenues for Himachali youths in armed & paramilitary forces.
He said that state has witnessed huge industrial sector investment in recent years due to excellent infrastructural facilities like roads, electricity, water supply and industrial peace and criticized the Union Govt. for curtaining the period of industrial package by three years. He said that it has adversely affected the investment environment in the state. He said that central govt is concentrating all powers in its hand which is dangerous to federal structure of the country. He criticized the 13th Finance Commission for grossly miscalculating the committed liabilities like Pay, Pension, Interest etc. of the state and said that while every state received enhancement of around 125 percent in revenue but on the other hand state received only 50 % increase in its revenues which is lowest among all states in country.
