Instructions issued to check use of illicit liquor in state

SHIMLA----A meeting under the chairmanship of Commissioner, State Tax & Excise Rajiv Sharma was held here today to review the measures to be taken for prevention of smuggling of liquor and production and use of illicit liquor. The meeting was attended by Zonal Collectors of North, South and Central Zone along with Enforcement Zones of South, North and Central Zone.

            Rajiv Sharma directed the Zonal in-charges to immediately call the meetings of district in-charges in this regard. Directions were issued for surprise checking of all liquor vends, bars, restaurants and hotels etc. to cheque the illegal use of liquor. It was also directed to specifically take measures in smuggling prone and the border areas of Himachal Pradesh with the adjoining States.

            He directed to take intensive vigil over inter-state movement of vehicles at boarder check posts round the clock till the completion of general elections to the Parliament. He also stressed the need for inter-state coordination among Excise Officers with the boarder States for monitoring of movement of liquor.
