TRADERS GRAND RALLY AGAINST SEALING & FDI IN RETAIL 0N 19TH JANUARY
DEMAND BILL IN PARLIAMENT TO STOP SEALING- POLICY FOR RETAIL TRADE

SHIMLA----Raising a strong demand for bringing a Bill in current session of the Parliament to stop sealing in Delhi and not to allow FDI in Retail Trade, the traders of Delhi and upcountry will hold a Grand Rally at Jantar Mantar on 19th December under the aegis of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
CAIT National Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal & Delhi State General Secretary Mr. Dev Raj Baweja said that sealing has distorted and disrupted the trade of Delhi to a great extent. Even after amendments in Master Plan by the Central Government, the rough and adamant attitude of the Monitoring Committee is proving to be great hindrance in de-sealing of the shops already covered under the amendments of Master Plan. Lakhs of people are suffering for their livelihood. The matter is pending before the Supreme Court since a long time and no decision has been made so far. Under the circumstances the eyes of traders are now focussed on Central Government. They said that either the Government should bring a Bill in the current session of the Parliament to stop sealing our bring an ordinance just after the conclusion of session of the Parliament. The shops which have been sealed should be de-sealed immediately.
Mr. Khandelwal further said that FDI in Retail trade is one of the most crucial and important issue for the traders across the Country. The entry of MNCs and FDI in Retail Trade has damaged the domestic trade to a great extent. These Companies are adopting all kinds of unhealthy business practices including predatory pricing, deep discounting and loss funding to invade the retail trade of India. Not only the offline remade but even these companies are making e commerce trade also as a tool to capture the retail trade. There are about 7 crore small businesses in the Country generating an annual turnover of about Rs. 42 lakh crore but in absence of any policy mechanism, the e commerce companies and MNCs are playing their own game.
The Rally will highlight these two issues in a bigger way and will demand the Central Government to act immediately to protect the small businesses from various onslaughts from different corners.
