Governor urges social organisations to come forward for elimination of drug menace
SHIMLA---- Addressing on the occasion of inauguration of Arya Samaj Mandir building at Kharar in district Mohali of Punjab today, Governor Acharya Devvrat called upon representatives of social organizations of Punjab and and other states to come forward united for eliminating drug menace in Punjab and elsewhere in the society. He said the every of youth and society should be channelized for progress of mankind.
He said that depleting water level in Punjab and Haryana was not only a cause of concern for both these states but also for other parts of the country. He said water level was decreasing four feet every year in these two states and the trend will have long term effect on agriculture and health of common man in these areas. He said natural farming was the only hope for the problems which have accumulated over the years due to extensive use of fertilizers.
The Governor said Swami Dayanand Saraswati addressed major social evils prevalent at that time in the society. His philosophy and teachings were relevant even today as new kinds of social evils have emerged in recent times.
He honoured prominent persons of the town who made a name for themselves in society. IAS, Lalit Jain, District Sessions Judge Rajan Gupta, AC Sanjeev Sharma were amongst those who were honoured by the Governor.
Earlier, Ramesh Chander Jeevan welcomed the Governor and Vishav Bandhu Arya thanked him for his visit.
Lady Governor, Darshana Devi was also present.
