Conclave of Himalayan state Chief ministers to be held in Shimla
Vijyender Sharma SHIMLA------ A conclave of Himalayan Chief Ministers and Parliamentarians under theme 'Well being of the next generation of Himalayan People through Agriculture' will be held in Shimla on 5th of October, 2018.
Member Secretary HP Council for Science, Technology& Environment (HIMCOSTE) Kunal Satyarthi told here today that Government of Himachal Pradesh is organizing this conclave in partnership with Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), a civil society organization of 12 Himalayan States and the Shoolini University, Solan, H.P. This conclave will be organized as two stage events comprising a Summit of professional experts and delegates at Shoolini University, Solan on 3rd and 4th October, 2018 which would be followed by Conclave of Chief ministers and Parliamentarians of 12 Himalayan States, at Peterhoff, Shimla on 5th October, 2018.
During the Conclave besides the main theme 'Well Being of the next Generation of Himalayan People through Agriculture' two other prominent sectors i.e Hydro Power and Sustainable Tourism over the Himalayan Region have been included for the discussion.
This will be the second such big conclave in Shimla. Earlier Government of Himachal Pradesh had organized a 'Himalayan Chief Ministers Conclave' in Shimla on the theme 'Indian Himalaya: Glaciers, Climate Change & Livelihoods' almost nine years ago on 29-30 October 2009. The outcome of the Conclave was the 'Shimla Declaration on Climate Change and Himalayan Development'. The ideas that emerged during the conference have been included by the states in their plans.
