Quality in skill training to be ensured for better employability: CS

SHIMLA----Addressing participants on the occasion of 'Skill Conclave', organized by H.P. Kaushal Vikas Nigam at Peterhoff today, Chief Secretary V.C Pharka said that quality in skill training being imparted to youth will be ensured for better employability in industry, commerce and corporate sectors.
HPKVN will empower all unemployed, unskilled, semi skilled persons, keeping in view long term requirement of industry, in the State and the Nation. It would also be ensured that the skilled manpower so generated found suitable and cent percent employment in industry.
He said that active involvement of industry has been ensured in all skill development projects with the purpose, that industry also found right candidates as per their requirement.
Four MoUs were signed in presence of Chief Secretary with Usha International, Reliance Retail, HRTC and Auto Skill Council.
Chief Secretary also unveiled the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Policy.
M.D. H.P. Kaushal Vikas Nigam Rajesh Sharma said that Indians constituted 25 percent of global work force with the fact that the Nation was having a strong base of young population which could be gainfully employed in different sectors.
HPKVN in the month of February this year signed 19 MoUs with industrial associations. HPKVN has designed pilot skill training programme in the State for 1000 youth across eight sectors. Noted training agencies and business houses will be providing training to the youth.
Director, Higher Education Dr. Dinkar Burathoki said that an elaborate vocational training programme for students right from school to university level had been prepared in the State. Initially, vocational training was started in 100 schools and extended to further 100 schools, across the State. Hospitality and retail streams have been added in 16 colleges in the State. Potential in agriculture, horticulture, jewellery, handloom sectors is also being explored so that trained manpower could be generated at the grass root level.
Mayor Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar and Additional Chief Secretary Finance Dr. Shrikant Baldi were also present on the occasion.
