Governor stresses for setting up big Ayurveda labs

The Governor, who was interacting with the top officials of the Ayurveda Department headed by Ayurveda Minister Shri Karan Singh here today at Raj Bhawan, said that keeping in view the rise in number of critical diseases, there was urgent need to intensify the research work in medical field. He said Ayurveda was the oldest system of medicine and Ayurveda medical practitioners had a big responsibility on their shoulders as a large number of people rely on it for treatment and maintaining a healthy life. He said that it was accepted truth that incurable diseases could be cured through Ayurveda and this holistic science was the knowledge of complete balance of the body, mind and spirit, including the emotions and psychology, on all levels
Acharya Devvrat said Himachal Pradesh had been blessed with immense natural forest wealth and a variety of rare herbs were found here which should be harnessed for manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines to benefit the people from this ancient traditional method of treatment.
He advised the department to prepare a detailed project for setting up labs and enhancing infrastructural facilities in Ayurveda health institutes.
Shri Karan Singh said that a consultative committee would be constituted for preparing the project for Ayurvedic laboratories in the State and would be sent to the Government of India for approval and financial assistance. He said that list of established traditional 'Vaids' would also be prepared and their work would be put in order for further research work.
Principal Secretary, Ayurveda Smt. Nisha Singh, Director, Ayurveda Dr. Raj Krishan Pruthi and other senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
