Shimla---- The High Court of Himachal Pradesh today directed H.P. 108 & 102 Contract Workers Union to file reply within one week in a matter related to threat by the said union to go on strike. The court further directed the parties to comply with the directions already passed by the court in letter and spirit. On 16.06.2016 the court had restrained the H.P. 108 and 102, Contract Workers Union, Shimla from going on strike. On that day it was brought to the notice of the court by the petitioner that members of the above said union have threatened to go on strike.
A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders on a writ petition filed by GVK Emergency Management & Research Institute. It was alleged in the petition that the members of the Union are going on strike without giving any notice to the petitioner. Due to geographical conditions and tough terrain, Himachal Pradesh has high accident rate in the country many other precious lives are lost and people suffer disabilities due to lack of timely medical care including those for pregnant women, infants and persons in acute emergencies like strokes, heart attacks, poisoning, burns and snake bites. State is running an Emergency response system through a public private partnership agreement with GVK-EMRI, an experience entity running the service in the country. A total of 184 Ambulances are on road including 12 backup Ambulances the Ambulances provide free transportation to the persons requiring immediate care. With a view to provide the emergency medical facilities to the people of the state government entered into a concession agreement with the petitioners. The petitioner had preyed to ensure the safety of workers those are willing to work with the petitioner. Further the petitioner had prayed to direct DGP to restrain the protest/strike. The matter shall be heard on 18/7/16.
