CM Inaugurates Book Fair


            Exhorts authors to write on developmental journey of the State

Shimla ---The old publications on culture, history, traditions of the State, requires to be reprinted so that people, especially the younger generation should know more about the rich cultural and religious heritage of Himachal Pradesh. This was stated by  Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh after inaugurating a Book Fair organised at Gaiety Theatre under the banner of 'Genious Hive Publications'. This Fair has been supported by Department of Language, Art and Culture,  the Language academy and National Book Trust of India.

            As many as 25 publication houses from Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Panchkula and Shimla were participating in the fair with books for all age groups in English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Hindi and Regional language displayed. The publications of Himachal Academy of Arts, Culture and Language and of language and culture Department were also displayed.

            Chief Minister while addressing the gathering of writers and poets exhorted them to write on the changing trend of 'Adhunik Himachal'. He said that books should be written on the ancient journey of Himachal and its transformation to modern era, so that the present generation could understand the developmental journey of the State.

            Shri Virbhadra Singh said that books were the true friends which never asks for anything in return, but always pay  though require your little bit of time. Though internet was another revolution, yet the written document in hand has much more importance which will never fade.

            The Chief Minister said that Genious Hive Publication had done a commendable job by displaying for sale the books of all categories and topic.

            Shri Rakesh Gupta Director, Genious Hive Publication detailed about the Book Fair and also honoured the Chief Minister.

            Chief Minister took a round of the Book Fair and appreciated the collection.

            The Chief Minister also honoured Ms. Haitti Premi, who presented her book 'Folk Songs of Himachal' to the Chief Minister. Besides, the Chief Minister also released a book titled 'Himachal Pradesh Ka Itihaas' by late Mian Goverdhan Singh, 'Himachal Ka Kala Vaibhav' by Shri Tulsi Raman, 'Dev Aastha avam Vishwas' a book of Language and Art Academy and 'Himachali Sanskritik Shabdawali'.

            Another writer from Himachal Pradesh, Shri Rattan Chand Nirjhar, also presented a cheque of Rs 15,000 to the Chief Minister towards the CM relief Fund.

            Dr Prem Sharma Vice-Chairman of the Language, Art and Culture Academy also welcomed the Chief Minister, besides the Director of Department of Language, Art and Culture, Smt. Shashi Thakur.

            Secretary of the Academy, Shri Ashok Hans assured the Chief Minister of to work upon  advice given and thanked him for gracing the occasion.

            Amongst the prominent writers present on the occasion were Shri S.R. Harnot Dr. Pramod Sharma, Shri S.N.Joshi, Dr. Manorama Sharma, Shri CRB Lalit,  Shri Madan Himachali, Shri TR Sharma, Shri Sushil Kumar Phull.

            Advisor Marketing Produce Board Shri Devendar Shyam and Chairman, APMB Shri Subhash Manglet also accompanied the Chief Minister.
