Shimla---The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has today made a complaint to Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion for violation of guidelines on FDI in E Commerce by E commerce Company Flipkart.

In a complaint sent to Secretary, DIPP, the CAIT has invoked attention towards an Advertisement appeared in various newspapers of today announcing the sale of an Item together with its discounted price to be available at the e-commerce platform of M/s.Flipkart, which is said to be a marketplace.

The said Advertisement violates conditions of the guidelines for FDI in E Commerce spelled out in Press Note No.2 (2016 Series) issued by DIPP on 29.3.2016. We invoke your attention to Provision 2.3 (ix) of the said Press Note which says that " E-Commerce entities providing marketplace will not directly or indirectly influence the sale prices of goods or services and shall maintain level playing field"-said CAIT.

The said advertisement clearly contravene the above provision in as much as it is inviting the consumers to register themselves for purchase of said item at a discounted price at marketplace of M/s.Flipkart, which is bound by the above provision of Press Note No.3 and this act directly or indirectly influence the sale price of goods and also create an uneven level playing field.

The CAIT has urged Secretary, DIPP take a cognisance of this Advertisement and jas demanded suitable action against the erring entities.
