CM announces channelization of Chainth khud in Bhoranj

Hamirpur, 19 Feb (                    ) On the demand of the people of the area for channelisation of 12 kilometres Chainth Khud in Bhoranj area, the Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh said that a sum of Rs.4.32 crore had been sanctioned in the month of January this year and funds would not be a problem in near future too. Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting at Bhareri in Hamirpur district today.

He said that to provide opportunities of self-employment to the unemployed youth and to enhance their skills the state government had started      Rs. 500 crore Skill Development Allowance Scheme. Under this scheme, allowance of Rs. 1000 per month is being provided to unemployed youth and Rs. 1500 to youth with special abilities. As many as 1,07,887 youth have so far  been benefitted under the scheme.

The Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh had made rapid strides in field of development and it was evident from the fact that during its formation there were only six villages having electric connections and as of today the State had 100 percent electrification. The per capita income during 1948 was just Rs. 240 which stands at Rs.1,04,943. The State has made rapid progress in field of education and today there were 15534 schools in the state besides 94 colleges catering to the educational needs of the people, he said, adding that the government was endeavoured to open schools in the area where it was more required and to strengthen the existing ones. 

He congratulated the newly elected Panchayati Raj representatives and said that it was a matter of pride that mostly women candidates made to the higher posts both in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies elections. He exhorted them to work sincerely towards welfare of the people and their development.

He said that during the last three years of the present government regime 994 new schools have been opened or upgraded and 25 new degree colleges have been opened in rural areas of the State.

He said that free Travelling Facility is being provided to students of Government Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas. Net books are being provided to 10,000 meritorious students of 10th and 12th Classes under ''Rajiv Gandhi Digital Yojana'' during the current financial year.  

The Chief Minister said that Indian Institute of Information Technology has been opened in Una district besides Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mandi and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Sirmour district. Apart from this, AIIMS was coming up in Bilaspur and three medical colleges at Hamirpur, Chamba and Nahan for which a provision of Rs. 190 crore each had been made. 

Chairman APMC, Hamirpur, Shri Prem Kaushal welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion and placed forth several demands of the area. He thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating projects worth Rs. 27.50 crore in Bhoranj area. He also demanded channelisation of Chainth rivulet besides strengthening and expansion of CHC, Bhoranj   PHC for Chamboh, office of Sub-Divisonal police officer at Bhoranj, residential facility for revenue staff, Examination hall for GSSS, Bhareri etc. 

He also listed the developments of the area.

He termed Shri Virbhadra Singh as an 'icon of an era' and a perfect example of honesty and simplicity and for that very reason the political opponents of Virbhadra Singh try targeting his integrity and his honesty. Shri  Kaushal said that Bhoranj always met a step-motherly treatment by former Chief Minister Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal. He said that the PWD division which was to be opened in Bhoranj was opened in Tauni-Devi, Part of our Tehsil and Patwar circles were attached with Tauni-Devi block.

Member, State Level Grievances Committee and SC Welfare Board, Dr. Ramesh Dogra also welcomed the Chief Minister and placed demands of the area. He and all the other speakers also demanded channelisation of Chainth rivulet in the area which creates havoc during the monsoons. 

Chief Parliament Secretary Shri Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Adviser to Chief Minister Shri Rangila Ram Rao, MLA Shri Sanjay Rattan, Former, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Smt. Anita Verma, former MLA and Vice –Chairman, KCC, Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania, HP SC/ST Congress Wing Shri Suresh Kumar, Pradhan, Bhukkar Gram Panchayat, Ms. Vijay Laxmi, Chairman, KCC Bank, Shri Jagdish Sapheiya, Member, State Women Commission, Ms. Promila Devi, Member, Zila Parishad, Ms. Sangeeta Devi, DCC President Shri Naresh Thakur, President, Mahila Congress Bilaspur Ms. Anjana Dhiman were also present on the occasion amongst others.
