Dharmshala ----The 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile today began its tenth session with a resolution to pay tribute to the six Tibetan self immolators who have laid down their lives in protest against Chinese rule and calling for the return of the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama since the last session of the parliament.

The parliament also passed resolution to mourn the death of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, Sadhutsang Rinchen Dhondup, former Kalon (minister) and Tenzin Wangdak, former Kashag Secretary and the official medium for Gadhong Oracle.

With the elections nearing, Speaker Penpa Tsering requested the members to abide by the rules of the House and said, "Disparity of speech and expression may occur during the sessions. Therefore, I urge all the members to maintain the decorum of the House and uphold the rules while performing their parliamentary duties."

The Speaker also expressed concerns regarding deteriorating political and human rights situation inside Tibet and the staggering number of Tibetans resorting to self immolation protests.

Highlighting China's rapid economic and its impact on the social and political developments inside Tibet, the Speaker said that it should be a priority for exile Tibetans to analyze and monitor the economic development of the world's second largest economy.

A resolution of solidarity presented by MP Karma Yeshi refuted the claims China made in their White Paper for Sixth Tibet Work Forum and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It also expressed gratitude to all the world leaders and organizations for their continuous support for the Tibetan cause.

Before the parliament began its morning session, members of Jhonang tradition stood with banners outside the premises of the parliament to protest the parliament's failure to amend the charter to make way for the allotment of two seats for Jhonang tradition.

Tsangyang Gyatso, President of the Jhonang Welfare Association-in-Exile said, "We would continue from where we left off from the last session. We would rally peacefully till we get our right to elect our sect's representatives in the exile parliament."

The current session will be held from 15 to 25 September, during which the Members of Parliament will discuss the annual reports submitted by the seven departments of the CTA.
