CM launches multi-purpose modern fire Rescue vehicle


            Fire tenders for Kala-Amb, Larji and Sunni Flagged off

SHIMLA---Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today launched Orchestra band of Home Guards and also inaugurated the blood donation camp organized by the Home-Guards and Fire Services at the historic Ridge here today. He also flagged off fire tenders for the fire station of Kala-Amb in Sirmour, Larji in district Kullu and for fire post at Sunni in Shimla rural constituency. Besides, he also launched the first of its type multi-purpose fire Rescue vehicle fully equipped with latest techniques and protective equipments chemical dress, cutting tools, generator sets, fire gel, etc.  After inducting four more vehicles the total strength of the fire tenders in the State has gone up to 120.
            Chief Minister also announced a sum of Rs 20,000 for the strengthening the orchestra group and said that it was a good initiative on the part of the department to have its own orchestra which has added another feather in the cap of the department. The home guard band which was introduced way back 20 years before has also brought kudos to the department and was well recognized all over the State.
            As many as 200 home-guards jawans donated blood on the occasion.
            The Chief Minister was addressing after launching fire tenders at CTO.
            He said that the state government mulls to provide fire tenders in every town of the State besides industrial townships. He said that the towering structures coming up in different part of the state was a cause of concern and the role of fire services had become more important now-a-days. He also lauded role of the home guards for their services they were providing to the people of the state in emergency.
            Earlier, DGP, Home Guards Shri S.R. Mardi welcomed the Chief Minster and detailed about the activities of the department.
            Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Shimla Shri Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Mayor, Shri Tikendar Panwar, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Dinesh Malhotra, Commissioner, MC, Shimla Shri Pankaj Rai, senior officers of the home guards were present on the occasion amongst others.
