SHIMLA---The Hon'ble High Court of H.P. toady has issued notices to the Center and State Governments over the issue of "Smart City Mission". The Hon'ble Court has sought reply from the respondents in four weeks.
Division Bench comprising of the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary passed these orders on a petition filed By Sanjay Chauhan alleging that the Central Government came out the plan in the name of "Smart City Mission Transform the Nation. The local bodies of State including Municipal Corporation Shimla and Municipal Council Dharamshala submitted their claims for including their names in the said mission. The petitioner has further alleged in the petition that the Government of India has approved the claim of Municipal Council, Dharamshala for the said mission without adopting the legal procedure.
The petitioner has also pointed out that office bearers of the MC Shimla has already made representations to the Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh, but despite the same no action has been taken in this matter. The petitioner has further pointed out that MLA of Shimla Constituency has also taken up the matter with the Governor of H.P. but of no use.
In the present matter the petitioner has sought quashing of memorandum dated 27.08.2015 wherein the name of Dharamshala has been included in the list of Smart Cities whereas the name of Shimla city which is a Historical place, has been rejected.
Now the matter will be taken up on 08.10.2015.
