SHIMLA---The High Court of Himachal Pradesh today issued notice to the state Government on the issue of transferring about 84000 bighas of land belonging to Devi Devtas in Kullu District to the third party.

A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Sngh Chauhan passed these orders on a writ petition filed by Dev Sanskriti Charitable Trust, Kullu.

The petitioner Trust has alleged in the petition that due to illegal conduct of the Revenue authority thousands bighas of land has been transferred in the name of Pujaris, Kardars and Mujarian in Kullu Dstrict. The said land was transferred in their name by misusing the provisions of H.P. Tenancy and Land Reform Act 1972 and as well as the Abolition of Big Landed Estate Act 1953. As the matter of fact in the year 1948-49 about  90,744 bighas of land was entered in the name of Devi Devtas of Kullu out of which 84000 bighas of land has been transferred to aforesaid persons because of the connivance with Revenue agencies. Now only about 8400 bighas of land remains in the name of Devi Devtas of Kullu District. The trust has prayed to quash the orders of transferring the land and to pass the orders to return back the land in the name of Devi Devtas of Kullu District. Further the trust has prayed to constitute the high level committee to inquire the matter.

Now the matter will be listed on 3.11.2015
