Congress Tightens Grip on Jawalamukhi Municipal Council; Som Kiran Sharma Elected President, Deepti Sood Vice-President

Jawalamukhi, June 16: The Congress party has further strengthened its position in the Jawalamukhi Municipal Council after Som Kiran Sharma was unanimously elected President and Deepti Sood as Vice-President on Tuesday. The unopposed election of both office-bearers is being seen as a reflection of the party's unity and its commanding majority in the civic body.

The development follows the Congress party’s impressive performance in the recently concluded municipal elections, where it secured seven of the nine seats in the council. The unanimous election of party-backed candidates to the top posts is being viewed as a significant political achievement for the Congress in the region.

Political observers have credited local MLA Sanjay Rattan for the party’s success. Under his leadership, the Congress strengthened its organizational network across wards and effectively mobilized public support during the election campaign. The latest victory is seen as further evidence of the party’s growing influence in Jawalamukhi.

Congress leader Gyaneshwar Sharma described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the party’s policies and leadership. He said the people of Jawalamukhi had reaffirmed their faith in Congress despite a strong challenge from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), giving the party a decisive mandate for local governance.

Local leaders noted that the elected Congress councillors demonstrated remarkable coordination and unity, resulting in a consensus on both leadership positions and eliminating the need for a contest.

With the formation of the new council leadership, expectations have risen for accelerated development initiatives, improved sanitation, stronger civic infrastructure, enhanced public services, and effective resolution of local issues.

Expressing gratitude after her election, newly elected President Som Kiran Sharma thanked the people of Jawalamukhi, MLA Sanjay Rattan, and fellow councillors for placing their trust in her.

“I sincerely thank Hon’ble MLA Shri Sanjay Rattan Ji, all councillors, and the respected citizens of Jawalamukhi for entrusting me with this responsibility. This opportunity to serve the people is a matter of great honor, and I will strive to fulfill it with dedication, transparency, and commitment,” she said.

She further stated that under the guidance of MLA Sanjay Rattan and with the support of all elected representatives and citizens, the Municipal Council would work towards writing a new chapter of development, transparency, and cleanliness in Jawalamukhi.

Calling for collective participation, Som Kiran Sharma urged residents to join hands in building a stronger, cleaner, and more developed Jawalamukhi for future generations.
