Character building is essential part of overall development: Governor

Shimla------------While presiding over the annual prize distribution function of DAV school Ambota in Una district today Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that character building of students was very essential alongwith providing qualitative education. He said that character building and personality development were important factors for overall development of students and education was incomplete without inculcating moral and ethical values in them.

The Governor said that teacher inculcate and develops moral values in students and DAV organization was known for the same. He said that Alumni of DAV were serving on higher posts in different organizations. He said that knowledge empowers of human beings and education plays an important role in eradicating the poverty.

Bandaru Dattatraya said that architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and former president Abdul Kalam both belonged to poor families but they played a pivotal role in nation building. He said that we should follow the path of truth and non violence as shown by Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The Governor stressed the need of environment conservation and said that use of plastic should be avoided. Environment conservation was a joint responsibility of all. Water scarcity was emerging as a big problem all over the world and we should endeavour to conserve the water for future generations. He said that all citizens should participate in the cleanliness campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring its success.

He released the souvenir of the school and gave away prizes to meritorious students. He also inaugurated newly constructed administrative block of DAV school Ambota.

Principal Namit Sharma presented annual report of school. Students of the school presented a colorful cultural programme on the occasion.

MLAs Rajesh Thakur and Balvir Verma, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar, SP Diwakar Sharma, Secretary DAV Management Committee Arvind Ghai were also present on the occasion.
