SHIMLA------  Taking another step towards bringing more transparency in the system with the help of Information Technology, Random Inspection Portal will be developed in Himachal Pradesh for random inspection of units of various departments by random officers. The inspection officers will have to upload the report of inspection within 48 hours.

This was disclosed by Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi while presiding over meeting with officers of various departments, here today. He said that NIC will develop this portal and it will be launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on completion of two years tenure of present State Government on 27th December, 2019.

He said that under this system, the selection of unit to be inspected will be purely on random basis and the inspection officer will also be selected randomly by the portal. He said that the database will be visible to everyone on the portal and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will also check it regularly.

He asked the concerned departments to create zones at their level for inspection and provide database to NIC for developing this portal. In this series, meeting under the chairmanship of Director Industries will be held with NIC and Nodal Officers of concerned departments on 3rd December, 2019 to prepare roadmap for making this portal functional at the earliest.

Dr. Baldi said that there was a need to adopt this system because traditional system of inspection was being followed by officers in their areas which was not so effective for the government. He said that except the inspections under this portal no other inspection will take place. If any inspection has to be done, it will be specified by the concerned head of department, he added.

Senior Officers of various departments namely Labour and Employment, Fire, Food and Drugs, Police, Excise and Taxation, Town and Country Planning and Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board were also present in the meeting.
