Governor presents Annanya Awards 2019 for distinguished services

SHIMLA----Governor Acharya Devvrat today presented Annanya Award to three personalities from Himachal Pradesh for their distinguished services in the promotion of natural farming and against the drug trafficking in a function organized at Chandigarh.

            Presiding over the function, the Governor said that there was no dearth of talent in the society but it was our responsibility to recognize them so that others should follow them and also take inspiration. He said that a great ideology could be helpful in creating good society as powerful thoughts could change the direction of the society.

            Expressing concern over growing drug addiction problem in the society, he said that it eliminates talent. He said that after the Punjab, those who were involved in these illegal activities have stepped up in the border areas of Himachal Pradesh, but the Himachal government has taken strong steps against such anti-social elements for which he appreciates the efforts of the government for taking several initiatives. He also praised the Himachal government for promoting natural farming. He said that the speed at which the work was going on in this direction, he was confident that by 2022 Himachal would emerge as a natural farming state.

            He said that the society needed man of character and such events would be helpful in recognizing those people who had done humanitarian work in the grassroot level and added that we should bring such people forward in the society. The Governor appreciated the initiative of the Zee network to organize a function, which was fully dedicated to the real heroes of the society. 

            He honoured Manish Kumar from Hamirpur, Ajay Ratan from Bilaspur and Bhupesh Jaggi from Chandigarh for the promotion of natural farming, Gurpreet Singh for agency working for skin, Pradeep Sangwan for environment protection, Dr. Monika Bhutungru, Superintendent of Police Chamba working against drug peddlers, Amita Marva working in slum areas, Master Kuldeep Sharma for social activities, Sunil Sandhu working for poor and hockey player Sanjeev Kumar working for poor players. 

            Education Minister of Haryana Rambilas Sharma said that media has played an important role in creating awareness in the society and also worked as a opinion leader. He appreciated Zee network for highlighting positive aspects of the society. He also thanked the Governor for spreading the message of natural farming in the country and worked as a guiding force particularly in Northern states. 

            Kishan Kapoor, food, civil supplies and consumer affair minister Himachal Pradesh on the occasion said that drug abuse has emerged as the biggest challenge today. Earlier, Punjab was referred in matter of drugs, but now in Himachal it has become a matter of concern. He said that the State government had taken effective steps in time to check drug trafficking in the State and government is making sincere efforts in this matter in the past one year and was implementing schemes of public welfare effectively.

            He congratulated those who received the award and said that such a programme deliver good message in the society and others got motivated.
