BRO starts work to open Rohtang Pass

 SHIMLA----Additional Chief Secretary, PWD, Revenue and Disaster Management Manisha Nanda revealed here today that Border Road Organisation (BRO) started the work on opening of Rohtang Pass on Wednesday.

            She said that the state government had aggressively taken up the matter with the BRO to restore the Rohtang Pass for vehicular traffic to facilitate the people of Lahaul valley, which was closed due to recent snowfall.

            Manisha Nanda said that since the work on construction of Rohtang tunnel was under progress and was not safe for plying of vehicles. She said that in case of any emergent situation, the people concerned can talk to the Deputy Commissioners of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts so that assistance could be made available.

            She said that rescue posts have been set up on both sides of the Rohtang tunnel at Koksar and Marhi from 12 November onwards to ensure safety of pedestrians.
