Minister demands for release of funds under scholarship schemes

SHIMLA---- Social Justice & Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col) .Dhani Ram Shandil today met the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot at New Delhi and discussed about various issues pertaining to State which were pending at the level of Govt. of India.
He requested the Union Minister to release a total amount of Rs.195.40 crore which was pending to be disbursed under Post Matric Scholarships SC, and OBC, Dr.Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Classes (EBC) (CSS). He said that under the Pre Matric Minority Scholarship Scheme, National Scholarship portal has disbursed Rs.25.41 Lakh to 1524 beneficiaries whereas 1039 persons were left out yet due to lack of funds under the scheme.
The Minister said that the proposal under Pre Matric Unclean Occupation Scholarship Scheme for the year 2016-17 was still under process at the level of Govt.of India and no sanction has been received for payment yet. He further said that under Pre Matric Disability Scholarship Scheme, National scholarship Portal has disbursed an amount of Rs.3.83 lac to 56 beneficiaries and requested for releasing the amount to be disbursed to 18 left out beneficiaries.
Dr. Shandil also requested the Minister to sanction all the proposals recommended by state level Multi Disciplinary Grant in Aid Committee under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes under prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drug) Abuses and Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) for purchase/fitting of Aids/appliances, Integrated programme for Older persons (IPOP) and Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Schemes (DDRS) sent to the Govt.of India.
He apprised the Union Minister about the progress under various schemes being implemented by the State Government.Sandeep Bhatnagar, Director Social Justice and Empowerment was also present.
Ayurveda Minister to attend Himachal Day function at Kullu

SHIMLA---- Ayurveda Minister Shri Karn Singh will attend the district level Himachal Day function at Kullu with Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur.
Earlier, he was scheduled to attend the State Level function being organized at Chamba.
Himachal selected for Krishi Karman Award for 2015-16

SHIMLA---- The Union Ministry of Agriculture has selected Himachal Pradesh for the Krishi Karman Award 2015-16 for commendable increase in food grains production.
An official spokesperson of the State Agriculture department disclosed here today that the Union Ministry has communicated the Chief Minister and Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) in this regard.
Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh has congratulated the Agriculture Department for having being selected for this award for the third time. He said this feat had been achieved due to dedicated efforts of the Agriculture department in extending technological inputs and services to the farmers which resulted in increase in food grains production.
Agriculture Minister Shri Sujan Singh Pathania has also appreciated the efforts of the department for this tremendous achievement.
During the last five years, the total food grains production has increased from 14.94 lakh tone to 16.34 lakh tone. Besides, the department has done considerable work in promoting poly-house cultivation, crop diversification, micro irrigation, organic farming and soil health management.
Its worth mentioning that Himachal Pradesh has earlier being given Krishi Karman Award for 2011-12 for increase in wheat production and in 2014-15 for increasing food grains production.
The award would consist of a trophy, citation and cash amount.
CM mourns demise of Ramesh Aggarwal

SHIMLA---- Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh has expressed grief over the demise of Shri Ramesh Chandra Aggarwal, Chairman of Bhaskar Group who passed away today following cardiac attack.
He said that Shri Aggarwal was a noted Journalist who contributed a lot in the field of journalism for over four decades. He would remain a source of inspiration for the budding journalists for a long time.
The Chief Minister has expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty for peace of the departed soul.
Information and Public Relations Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri has also mourned the passing away of Shri Aggarwal.
MoU signed for establishing NIPR Lab at Baddi

SHIMLA---- With a view to ensure facility to the pharma industry for testing their products within the state, an ultra modern laboratory of National Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute (NIPR) would be set up at Baddi in Solan district. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today between the State Government and NIPR at the office of NIPR in Mohali for this composite pharma testing lab. The project would cost Rs. 12 crore.
The MoU was signed by Director Industries Rajesh Sharma on behalf of Himachal Government and by Dr. USN Murthi on behalf of NIPR. The Laboratory would be jointly managed by the Himachal Government, NIPR and HMDA, whereas the technical assistance would be provided by NIPR. All modern facilities would be provided in the lab for testing of pharma products and the state government would bear the entire cost of the project.
With the setting up of this laboratory at Baddi, the pharma industry in the state would be immensely benefited, as presently the entrepreneurs have to go outside the state for testing of different pharma products.
Industries Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri had raised the issue with Union Chemicals and Fertilizer Minister Shri Anant Kumar during last year to set up this laboratory at Baddi.
Additional Director Industries Shri Tilak Ram Sharma revealed that more than 70 per cent medicines were being manufactured at Baddi and setting up of this laboratory would benefit the entire pharma industry. He added that the state government would also soon develop a bulk drug park at Baddi.
