Dharmshala----Himachal Chief Minister Vir Bhadra Singh has said that Governments in the country function as per the provisions of the Constitution and not on the dictums of individuals. He was reacting to the statements of ex Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in which he was repeatedly claiming that when Narender Modi would assume charge, Congress governments in the states would be thrown out of power. He said that Dhumal’s such statements speak about his autocratic mentality and country is not being run by Dhumal.
While addressing public meetings in favour of Congress Nominee Chander Kumar at Jawala Ji, Nagrota Suriyan, Jawali, Rehan and at several other places in Kangra Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Virbhadra Singh said that he believes in idealistic and principled dual. He said that Dhumal considers him as his personal enemy and Dhumal falsely implicated him in various cases. He said that he fought for himself and came clean out of these in various courts.
Chief Minister said that BJP leader Shanta Kumar has been fielded as a part of conspiracy so that he may be thrown out of his opponent’s way after he lose the elections. In the past also Shri Shanta Kumar had been defeated by Chander Kumar and Late Sat Mahajan ji. Shanta Kumar had also lost Vidhan Sabha elections twice, which clearly implies that people of the area does not consider him as their leader.
Chief Minister said that the present State Government believes in overall development and in past one year 14 new colleges had been opened in the state and a budgetary provision of Rs. 5 crore each had been made for these so that construction work could start at the earliest. He said that 3 new medical colleges are also being opened at Chamba, Nahan and Hamirpur. Rs 800 crore had been spent on constructing building of ESI Medical College at Ner Chowk in district Mandi, he said.
Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Congress believes in secularism and does not believe in politics of revenge. He exhorted the people to vote in favour of Congress Party so that the party could win all 4 seats in the state. He said that it will help in formation of a secular and strong government at the centre. He said that Prof. Chander Kumar is a strong and suitable candidate and appealed to people to help him in winning by biggest margin so that area could be able to derive maximum benefit from central schemes.
Prof. Chander Kumar on the occasion thanked Congress High Command and Shri Virbhadra Singh for making him Congress Nominee from the constituency.
Shri Neeraj Bharti, CPS and Congress MLA from Jawali dwelled on developmental works of Prof. Chander Kumar and appealed the people to vote in favour of Prof. Chander Kumar.
Before this, Shri Virbhadra Singh while talking to media persons at Hamirpur said that all leaders expelled from the party should be taken back, which would strengthen the party. He said that a decision to this effect should be taken by the State Congress Committee at the earliest so that all Congress leaders may be able to go in the elections in a united manner.
