Hamirpur---Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, today launched ‘Census Operation -2011’ the democratic exercise undertaken throughout the country after every ten years, on the auspicious occasion of 41st State Level Statehood Day celebrated at Hamirpur today by flagging off the awareness rally of thousands of students from various educational institutions of the District Headquarters.
Chief Minister said that second phase of the Census-2011 was being carried out from February 9 to 28, 2011 and revisional round between March 1 to 5, 2011. He said that the first phase had successfully completed by house listing and housing census. He said that the census exercise would be carried out throughout the country on the basis of the interview with the head of the household. He appealed to the citizens of the country to extend their full cooperation to the enumerators visiting them by providing them correct and factual information about each of their family members to make the exercise a grand success. He said that the information supplied by the people would be of utmost importance to the Centre and the State to formulate developmental planning in a most perfect manner. He said that the information given by each of the individuals would be kept strictly confidential under the Census Act, 1948.
Shri Balbir Tegta, Director of Census Operations, HImachal Pradesh, welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed out the schedule of the Second Phase of the Census-2011 and the preparations made by the Department to accomplish the democratic exercise in a most perfect manner.
Shri Ishwar Dass Dhiman, Education Minister, Shri Satpal Singh Satti and Shri Virender Kanwar, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Smt. Urmil Thakur, local MLA, Shri Rajender Singh, DC, Shri Kuldeep Sharma, SP and other senior officers of the state were present on the occasion.
