Chief Minister, has directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that all roads were kept open

Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, has directed the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary PWD, Chairman, HPSEB, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, IPH, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Shimla and all Deputy Commissioners of the State to ensure that all roads were kept open for smooth movement of vehicular traffic during the winter season, supply line of essential commodities maintained in the open market and in the fair price shops besides ensuring availability of petrol, diesel and LPG etc. to the consumers. He said that the local authority needed to regularly check the price of the commodities in the open market and ensure that traders were not over charging. He directed that, wherever necessary, wholesalers of consumable goods be checked and hoarders of essential commodities brought to books.

Chief Minister directed the IPH authorities to ensure that safe drinking water was supplied to the people and effective steps taken to maintain supplies in the snow bound areas. He said that State Electricity Board would be ensuring uninterrupted supply of power to every consumer and immediate repairs carried to restore the supplies in snow bound areas where supply gets disrupted due to snowfall etc. He said that the State Police would be maintaining law and order at all places, especially on New Year eve celebrations, public places such as bus stands, railway stations, markets and venues of celebrations, religious shrines etc., where large number of people were likely to assemble besides carrying random checking of the vehicles at the entry point to the State so that nothing objectionable was transported into the State from outside. He said that besides highway patrolling, night patrolling needed to be intensified and strict vigilance kept over the suspicious characters and safety of every law abiding individual ensured.

Prof. Dhumal directed the Municipal Corporation, Shimla authorities to ensure all civic amenities to the visitors to the capital town for New Year celebration and clear all the roads of snow, keep roads leading to hospital open and pliable for ambulances etc.. He directed the deputy commissioners also to ensure that all arrangements were made in their respective districts during the winter season and no inconvenience was caused to the public in general. He reiterated the resolve of the State Government to make life of common man reasonably comfortable by providing them all essential services uninterrupted.
