Rahul Gandhi in Himachal Pardesh

REHAN(Kangra)--While addressing an election rally in Rahan of Kangra district of Himachal Pardesh on Monday Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said “UPA government has fulfilled all promises made to the people five years ago. The biggest promise made by the UPA government was that of Employment Guarantee Scheme. Through this millions of people have been given employment. And the UPA government carried out loan waiver programme for poor farmers and loans worth Rs 70,000 crores were waived. Mid-day meal programmes for school going children of this country is another big achievement of the UPA government. He said that the Congress and the UPA was seeking votes in the name of Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister.

He flayed the BJP for projecting Manmohan Singh as a weak PM. He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a strong leader who decided that the nuclear deal with the USA was good for the future of India and did not bother to sacrifice his government for that. The further added that the firmness with which Manmohan Singh handled the nuclear deal crisis and aftermath of Mumbai terror strikes displayed his boldness.Manmohan Singh converted the world opinion against Pakistan for sponsoring terror. The result is that now the Pakistan army is being forced to act against terrorists on their own soil.

On the contrary the BJP buckled under the pressure of terrorists and released a dreaded terrorist after the Kandhar plane highjack. He said it was a pity that the former Prime Minister of BJP Atal Bihari Vajpayee was now being blamed by the senior BJP leaders for releasing the terrorists in Kandhar highjack case.He assured the peoples of the area to look into the problems of Pong Dam oustees and lobby for one rank one pension issue that is long pending demand of the ex-servicemen.
