C.M. dedicates Dharamsala Sewerage Scheme

DHARMSHALA 28 Febuary----Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister dedicated the ambitious Dharamsala Sewerage scheme to the people of the town completed at a cost of Rs. 1756.08 lakhs by commissioning 5.15 MLD sewerage treatment unit and septic tank of 2000 users capacity at Dharamsala today. Chief Minister said that the sewerage scheme would facilitate the Bhagsu Nag, Dharamkot, Mecleodganj, Forasateganj, Dal Lake, Naddi, Kotwali, Gamru, Ramnagar, Shamnagar, Depot Bazar, Civil Line, Chil Gari, Purana Chari Road, Jawahar Nagar, Chellian and College Complex etc. of the town. He said that scheme had provision for 2,933 house connections out of which 750 connections had already been released and efforts would be made to connect every house with sewerage line in cooperation with the residents of the area. Prof. Dhumal said that during his earlier tenure, he had procured Rs. 30 crores from the 11th Finance Commission for the sewerage schemes of Dharamsala, Jwalamukhi and Hamirpur and had made adequate provision of funds for the completion of proposed schemes. He blamed the previous government for delaying the completion of the schemes by diverting a sum of Rs. 5.63 crore for other than proposed schemes which hampered the speedy completion of the schemes. Chief Minister said that Dharamsala town was being developed into an attractive international tourist destination of the State. He said that it had the Tibetan Government in exile headquarters under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama which had made the town more important since devotees from all parts of the world visit the sacred place to pay their obeisance to their spiritual leader. Prof. Dhumal said that an international level cricket stadium had also been developed in the town which had unique locational benefit in the entire world since no cricket stadium had the snow line as near as that of Dharamsala which presents a panoramic view of the stadium. He said that the cricket stadium venue would be connected with express highway with Gaggal airport to facilitate the international cricket players. He said that a double laned bridge was also being constructed near to the college complex to directly connect the stadium with the main highway. Chief Minister said that best efforts would be made to develop Dharamsala town as the choicest tourist destination to attract visitors from the world over for which necessary infrastructural facilities would be upgraded to match the international standards. Shri Gulab Singh Thakur, PWD and Revenue Minister, Shri Ravinder Ravi, IPH Minister, Shri Kishan Kapoor, Transport Minister, Shri K.K. Pant, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Atul Fulzele, Superintendent of Police, Shri D.K. Gupta, Chief Engineer, IPH, North Zone and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
