SHIMLA----------Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi asked officers to carry out digitization, resolve concerns and issue Unique Disability Identity (UDID) cards in campaign mode on every Saturday in December, 2019 and January, 2020 across the state.

Chief Secretary was presiding over meeting of UDID project with senior officers of Social Justice and Empowerment and Health departments, here today.

He asked the officers to accelerate pace of digitizing the UDID cards and directed District Welfare Officers (DWOs) to implement the project in their areas in campaign mode by organising Melas to reduce rejection of applications and bring down the pendency level to zero. He said that a meeting would be held in January to review the progress of the project.

It was informed in the meeting that the UDID project was the flagship project of PMO to create national database for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and since its launch in the State on 8 May, 2018, 10173 UDID cards had so far been issued in the State. It was also informed that the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was monitoring the project on daily basis through online UDID portal.
