Chief Justice V. Ram Subramanian launches plantation campaign

SHIMLA------  Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice V. Rama Subramanian on Saturday launched a plantation drive by planting a sapling of cedar near Patlikuhal, 17 miles from Kullu. The plantation program was organized by the District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of State Legal Services Authority with the support of Forest Department. Senior Judge of HP High Court Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary also planted a cedar on the occasion.

      Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Ajay Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Richa Verma, SP Gaurav Singh, District and Sessions Judge Purender Vaidya, Conservator Anil Sharma, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Anil Sharma including members of District Bar Association also gave message of environmental protection by planting saplings.

         PCCF Ajay Sharma welcomed Chief Justice  V. Rama Subramanian and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary and honoured them by presenting them Himachali cap, shawl and memento.

     During an interaction, Ajay Sharma said that a massive tree plantation campaign was conducted in Himachal Pradesh from July 20 to 24 this year and around 25 lakh saplings of different species were planted by involving  Panchayati Raj Institutions, NGOs, Mahila & Yuvak Mandals besides a large number of school children. He said that 17 lakh saplings were planted last year in a similar campaign.

   Today, about 400 saplings were planted by Indo-Tibetan Border Police, forest department, students of Haripur College and students of nearby schools.
