SHIMLA-----The upsurge in GST revenue collection for the month of April,2019 has strongly demolished the argument of Shri Rahul Gandhi that it is Gabbar Singh Tax and not in the interest of traders. On the contrary the highest collection from GST in the month of April since its implementation in the Country establishes the fact that traders across Country have utter faith and trust in current GST taxation system though still traders are feeling some of the problems in complying GST but enhancement in revenue from GST indicate that business community by and large has adopted GST taxation system as integral part of their business-said Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

Mr. Khandelwal further said that not only the revenue but even number of tax payers under GST in comparison to earlier VAT regime have become double which amply reflects that more and more traders want to embrace the taxation system and notably it is when the threshold limit under GST has been raised to Rs.40 lakhs and Composition Scheme has been raised to Rs.1.5 crore.

Mr. Khandelwal said that Mr. Rahul Gandhi should do an introspection of his thoughts and views about GST and stop calling it as Gabbar Singh Tax. The traders are greatly relived under GST taxation system particularly from frequent visits of Inspectors at their business establishments. Once the new Government is formed, the CAIT will raise other issues and problems of the traders for their speedy solution.
