CM offers floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

SHIMLA---    Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, several other State leaders and people from different walks of life offered floral tributes on memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at the historic Ridge, here today on his 150th birth anniversary. 

                      The Chief Minister also administered the 'Swachhatta Oath' to the people present on the occasion to keep the State clean to achieve the dream of 'Swachh Bharat'.

                   Chief Minister also flagged off School Children Rally-Run Against Drug Abuse and Awareness on the occasion.

                    The Chief Minister also offered floral tributes on the memorial of former Prime Minister Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 114th Birth anniversary along with Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and other leaders including councillors. The Chief Minister termed him as an apostle of peace and harmony. 

                      The artists of Information and Public Relations Department presented devotional songs on the occasion associated with the lifetime of Mahatma Gandhi. 

                      Earlier, the Chief Minister along with Mayor Municipal Corporation Shimla Kusum Sadrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and Councillors participated in Swachhatta Abhiyan at Sanjauli on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. School children participated with great enthusiasm in the cleanliness campaign launched by the Chief Minister.

                      Chief Minister also released special edition of Himprastha, the monthly magazine of Information and Public Relations Department. The special addition contains several interesting stories regarding visits of Gandhi Ji to Shimla from 1921 to 1945. 

                 Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Chief Whip and MLA Narender Bragta, MLAs Nand Lal, Vikramaditya Singh and Balbir Verma, Chief Secretary B.K. Agrawal, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Trilok Jamwal, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kundu, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap, Director Information and Public Relations Anupam Kashyap, SP Shimla Omapati Jamwal and several people from different walks of life also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion among others.            

CM inaugurates signage of Mahatma Gandhi

  Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti inaugurated the signage of Gandhi Ji and also photo galleries at Himachal Pradesh State Museum at Chaura Maidan, Shimla    He also released short documentary on Rock Art produced by the Language, Art and Culture Department and a Book on Baijnath temple written by Devinder Handa.

  Chief Minister also watched a film on Gandhi Ji 'Mujh Main Hai Gandhi'. A film produced by the Language Art and Culture Department under "Aaj Purani Rahon Se" was also screened on the occasion. This film is based on several visits of Gandhi Ji to Shimla.  

          Education Minister Shri Suresh Bhardwaj, Chief Secretary B.K. Agarwal, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kundu, Secretary Language, Art and Culture Dr. Purnima Chauhan, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Trilok Jamwal, OSD to the Chief Minister Mahender Dharmani, General Secretary Child Welfare Council Payal Vaidya, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap, Director Language, Art and Culture Rakesh Korla were present on the occasion among others.
