Traditional sport Kabaddi should be promoted in a big way : Governor
SHIMLA---- Governor Acharya Devvrat said that Kabaddi was our traditional sport and we should promote this game in a big way. He was speaking as a chief guest in a State Circle Kabaddi Championship an event of Amateur Kabaddi Association, Haryana organized by Integrated Skills Development Research Society and Yuva Sports Club, Dikadla in district Panipat, today.
On the occasion, the Governor said that we should feel proud that Haryana has given highest national players to the country and at the international level, the highest number of medals also bring the players from Haryana for the country. He lauded the efforts of Haryana Government for taking initiative in promoting all games at the village level. He said that sports enhances the spirit of discipline, brotherhood and nationality. The game could also save the lives of the youth who were addictive to drugs and by involving themselves in sports activities they could channelized their energy in constructive ways, he added. He urged the teaching community and parents to inculcate moral values ??and Indian culture to their wards to increase the pride of India.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the organizers and said that such an event were keeping our sports tradition alive and were essential for preparing players.
On this occasion, the Governor also enjoyed the matches of various teams and gave away the prizes to the winning teams.
Krishan Lal Pawar, Transport and Housing Minister welcomed the Governor on the occasion.
