SJVN donates One crore towards CMRF

SHIMLA---- Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented a cheque of rupees one crore by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) towards Chief Minister's Relief Fund here today by its Chairman cum Chief Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma.
Chief Minister while thanking the SJVN said that the government accepts this noble gesture with gratitude towards the Nigam. He said that the funds would go a long way in helping the poorest of poor to meet the medical expenses. The people, the boards and corporations should voluntarily come to donate towards CM relief Fund, he said
The CMD informed the Chief Minister that against the MoU target of generation of 8700 million units, SJVN generated 9045 million units of electricity for the FY 2016-17. SJVN has generated more than 8660 million units during current financial year till date. He further briefed that financial position of SJVN also remained healthy as the revenue from operation was Rs. 2468.66 crore and Net Profit after Tax was Rs. 1544.14 crore in fiscal 2016-17. Owing to the excellent financial performance SJVN paid a dividend of Rs.290.13Crore for financial year 2016-17 to Government of Himachal Pradesh, which holds 25.51% shares of SJVN.
Chief Secretary Shri Vineet Chawdhry, Additional Chief Secretary cum Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Smt. Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary (Power) Shri R.D. Dhiman, Director (Finance) SJVNL Shri A. S. Bindra, and Director (Electrical) SJVN Shri R. K. Bansal were also present on the occasion amongst others.
