High court directed officials to file fresh status report in a matter pertaining to the increasing cases of contaminated water tanks in the Solan

SHIMLA-----The High Court of H.P. today directed the Chief Secretary, Secretary, IPH to the government of Himachal Pradesh, Deputy Commissioner, Solan,    S.P. , Solan and Superintending Engineer, IPH, Solan to file fresh status report in a matter pertaining to the increasing cases of contaminated water tanks in the Solan District in recent past. The court also directed the respondents to clearly indicate in the report that what precautions they have taken not only in district solan but in the entire state to stop such incidents in future. The matter will now be listed on 22nd November, 2016 for further hearing.

            A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders on a petition taken up suo moto by the Court as Public Interest Litigation on a news item published  in Indian Express in on 30.09.2016 under title "Solan: Three school water tanks found 'poisoned" investigation on. It was reported in the paper that three water tank  at local school in Sabathu area of Solan district were found to have been poisoned over the last three days, posing a challenge for the district administration to ensure safety of drinking water sources.
