Himachal government committed to provide qualitative education: CM


·        Inaugurates new College building at Jaisinghpur

·        Dedicates various developmental projects for the constituency

SHIMLA----The State government is committed to provide qualitative education to the youth and various measures are being taken to open both academic and vocational education centers in the State so that the students need not go outside for getting education.

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh stated this while addressing a public meeting in the premises of Kanwar Durga Chand Memorial College, Jaisinghpur in Kangra district today. He said as many as 115 government degree colleges had been working across the state especially in the remote areas and most of these had been opened during the regime of Congress Governments.

He inaugurated the new college building at Jaisinghpur completed at a cost of Rs.8.10 crore and also laid the foundation stone of the proposed science block in the college complex to be constructed at a cost of Rs.3.11 crore.  Earlier, he dedicated the Fire Post at Jaisingpur and inaugurated the newly upgraded Veterinary Hospital at Harsi. He also laid the foundation stone for improvement of distribution system of Harsi Sanghol, Jaisinghpur, Harrot, Karanghat, Uttrapur, Sakoh, Liunda, Dalli-Bhulaunder water supply schemes to be executed at a cost of Rs.3.91crore.

The Chief Minister said that over 1,000 new schools were opened or upgraded across the state by the present government. Besides providing qualitative education at the primary and secondary levels, impetus had also been laid on higher education by opening 24 new industrial training institutes and two engineering colleges. 41 new degree colleges had been opened in the far flung areas of the state and  3,355 new posts were created for these newly opened educational institutions. The students studying in the state government schools and central schools were being given free transportation facility in buses of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (H.R.T.C.), he said.

Shri Virbhadra Singh said that modern infrastructure and teaching facilities were being created in two senior secondary schools in each constituency under the 'Mukhya Mantri Aadarsh Vidyalay Yojana' at a cost of Rs.30 crore. Under the 'Mukhya Mantri Gyandeep Yojna' all the Himachali students were entitled to get educational loan up to 10 lakhs at an interest rate of four per cent per annum.

He said that the State Government was putting concerted efforts to strengthen the road and electricity network in the state so that the people might be able to link themselves with the employment activities. He laid stress on preservation and propagation of history and culture of the State so that the youth and the coming generations might be able to know their roots. He said that Jaisinghpur had been a seat of power and prestige as Raja Sansar Chand was born there.

Shri Virbhadra Singh sanctioned a bridge to be constructed over Sita Ram Khadd connecting Kanwar Durga Chand Memorial College through a shorter route. He also announced that Wi-Fi facility will be provided in the college campus within a period of three months.

Local M.L.A. Shri Yadvindra Goma briefed about the ongoing developmental schemes in his area. He also put new demands before the Chief Minister and thanked him for dedicating over a dozen developmental works and laying foundation stones of various schemes in the area. He alleged that the previous government did not pay any heed to the development of the college.

Chairman, KCCB Sh. Jagdeesh Sapiya, also spoke on the occasion and gave full credit to the Chief Minister for development of Jaisinghpur Constituency.

Smt. Vandana Badhwar, Principal, Kanwar Durga Chand Memorial College briefed about the activities being carried out in the college for the welfare of the students. 

Those present on the occasion included Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Jagjivan Pal, M.L.As Shri Sanjay Rattan and Shri Kishori Lal, former Union Minister Smt. Chadresh Kumari, Chairman H.P. Board of School Education Shri Balbir Tegta, Director, Higher Education Shri Dinkar Burathoki, I.T. Advisor to the Chief Minister  Shri  Gokul Butail along with senior officers of the district.
