High Court of H.P. directed the Chief Secretary to file fresh status report

SHIMLA----The High Court of H.P. today directed the Chief Secretary, Secretary, Home to the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, Deputy Commissioner & Superintendent of Police, Kinnaur and The General Manager, Karcham Wangtu, Hydroelectric to file fresh status report in matter pertaining to defiance of court orders qua the release of water from dam in river satluj.

            A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders on a petition taken up suo moto by the Court as Public Interest Litigation on a letter written to the Chief Justice by Javier Topo resident of Jharkhand who is posted in 68 RCC GRIEF, Tapri in district Kinnaur. The petitioner has alleged in the petition that on 24/07/2016 his son was fishing out wood from the river Satluj near Tapri and during that time water was released suddenly from Karchham Dam and he got swept away with the high current of water. And since then the son of the petitioner is missing. The petitioner has further pointed out in the petition that on Project Bridge there are check post wherein, security guards are posted around the clock. Despite this fact his son was never cautioned by security guards regarding the rise in water level. The petitioner has prayed to issue directions to state government and the company to carry out search for his missing son. The matter   will now be listed before the court on 5th October, 2016 for further hearing.
