SHIMLA-----The High Court of H.P. directed The Managing Director, HRTC & The Commissioner, Transport to be present before the court on 17.08.2016 in a matter pertaining to bad condition of the roads in the state because of which most of the accidents take place in the state. Court also directed Managing director, HRTC to file fresh status report in the matter.
A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders on a petition filed by Ajay Siphayia the petitioner had prayed in the petition that several bus accidents cases are being reported from all over the state in the various newspapers. The fatal road accidents in the state are showing no signs of stopping and in spite of various statements given by the Transport Ministry, no effective deterrent action appears to have been taken. On previous hearing the court had directed the respondent to report whether stops have been earmarked enabling the passengers to debark and embark on or before the next date of hearing.
Today the petitioners have filed status report regarding traffic congestion along with photographs. The Advocate General informed the court that the concerned authorities have been informed to do the needful and sought three weeks time to file the reply which was granted by the court. It was also brought to the notice of the court by HRTC that the all vehicle belonging to the corporation is being parked in the parking zone. But the petitioner stated that the said fact is not factually correct. As per the directions of the court now the matter is to be taken on 17.08.2016.
